A phone repair solves the visible problem, but customers should still do a few small checks after collection to keep the device reliable and secure.

Fresh backup

Start with a fresh backup once the phone is working again. Back up photos, contacts, messages and important files. This is especially useful after screen, battery, charging port, water damage or board-level repair work.

Security updates

Install pending software updates when the device is stable and charged. Updates often include security improvements, bug fixes and compatibility changes for apps.

Customers should use official update settings rather than links from messages or unknown websites.

Screen lock and accounts

Check the screen lock and account protection. Make sure Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint unlock, PIN or passcode settings still work as expected.

If a temporary passcode was used during repair testing, change it after collection.

Open important apps and test notifications. Banking, email, authentication, health and work apps may ask for a fresh login after some repairs or resets.

Device tracking

Review device tracking settings such as Find My iPhone or Android device location tools. These features help customers locate a lost device and can also support safer handover during future repairs.
