Google published the June 2026 Android Security Bulletin on 1 June 2026. For repair shops, the useful message is simple: software updates are part of device care, not just a technical extra.
What changed in June
Google says Android security patch levels dated 2026-06-05 or later address all issues listed in the June bulletin. The bulletin also explains that some fixes sit at the 2026-06-01 patch level, while the fuller patch level is 2026-06-05 or later.
The most severe Android issue listed for June is described as a critical Framework vulnerability that could allow remote escalation of privilege without extra execution privileges. Google also notes that user interaction is not needed for exploitation in that scenario.
Why customers ask repair shops
Customers often ask repair staff whether a phone is safe to use after a screen, battery, charging port or board-level repair. Shops should avoid scare language, but it is helpful to explain that a repaired device should still be checked for current software updates.
A good repair handover can include three checks: current backup, current security patch, and working screen lock. These checks take little time, but they make the shop look more professional and help customers leave with better habits.
What to say at handover
Tell Android customers to open Settings and check the Android security patch level after the device is stable and charged. If an update is available, they should install it from the official settings app rather than from a message link, pop-up or unknown website.
For iPhone customers, Apple also keeps a public security release page. On 1 June 2026 Apple listed iOS 26.5.1 for iPhone 17 models and iPhone Air, while iOS 26.5 remains listed for iPhone 11 through iPhone 16e. The practical message is the same: keep the device updated through official settings.
Shop workflow idea
Add a short note to repair collection: backup checked, update advised, lock screen tested. If the customer uses the phone for banking, work email or authentication apps, remind them to test those apps after collection.
This is not about turning repair staff into security consultants. It is about giving customers clear, safe advice at the moment they already trust the shop with their device.
